This is a large mixed-use development with residential, commercial offices and retail spaces in a prominent Queenstown location and is currently on hold. We completed a full masterplan to optimise the opportunities and designed the key anchor commercial buildings. They are timber hybrid structures with engineered timber used as columns and beams with steel used in its most appropriate way as the lateral bracing system. Along with the rational, repetitive structure this has been shown to be an economic method of construction that is also highly sustainable and attractive with the warmth and biophilic advantages of a timber interior environment.
