After graduating from the Auckland University Architecture School in 1993, Tim rejoined Sheppard & Rout where he had previously trained as an Architectural Draughting Technician. In 2006 Tim, along with Jasper van der Lingen, joined David Sheppard as a director of the practice. Tim has been design and project architect on a diverse range of projects, including the Burwood Hospital Redevelopment, Surgical Services Unit and Spinal Ward refurbishment on the Burwood Hospital campus, Wilding Park Indoor Tennis Centre, and the new commercial laundry for Canterbury Linen at Dakota Park, Christchurch Airport. His residential projects have included the Red Rock Lane, Kelly, Garden Road and Fendalton Road projects in Christchurch.
Tim is originally from Queenstown and has carried out a number of projects in Central Otago including the award winning Kanuka Rise house in Wanaka. Tim is currently working on a large house and a four-level commercial building near Queenstown.
Educational projects include the Special Needs development and refurbishment of a two-storey classroom block at Hillmorton High School. In Wellington, Tim is the director responsible for several completed multiresidential projects including 21 townhouses in Newlands, 19 apartments in Mount Cook and 23 townhouses in Lower Hutt. He is currently working on two developments that will provide 38 townhouses over two sites, along with a 6-storey apartment building.
Tim has been responsible for many of the practice’s healthcare projects over a variety of medical fields. He has recently completed the role as Project Architect overseeing the construction phase for the major redevelopment on the Burwood Hospital Campus. Tim brings to any project strong skills in facilitation, documentation and teamwork alongside a strong understanding of client and user needs.
As well as leading the design phases of the projects he is the project director for, Tim has an overall QA review from a technical and coordination point of view for most projects leaving the office.
